In recent years, growth in agricultural output has no doubt been on the rise as farmer are stepping away from subsistence agriculture and embracing modern civilization - investing in large scale farming and ultimately increasing agricultural products. CBS Farm in Uturu engages in plantain production, oil palm production, snail farming and fish farming. Nigeria may be on its way to reclaim its dominant position in the oil palm industry going by recent activities in the sector. Already, CBS Agro are upwardly reviewing their stakes in the sector in a bid to sustain the implementation of government’s backward integration plan. Nigeria is one of the largest plantain producing countries in the world.  Despite its prominence, Nigeria does not feature among plantain exporting nations because it produces more for local consumption than for export. It is the goal of CBS Agro to change this trend and make Nigeria one of the notable export base for plantain and thereby growing the country's GDP.

Produce: Ginger

 

The potential of ginger to the Nigerian export volume cannot generally be over-emphasized. CBS Agro farm in Damakasua, Kachia Local Government of Kaduna state is dedicated to ginger cultivation. Ginger (Zingiber Officinale) is a commodity that is highly valued in international markets for its aroma, pungency and high oil and Aleoresin content. Nigeria is the third largest exporter of ginger in the world after China and India. The aim of CBS Agro is to boost Nigeria's ginger market through cultivation, processing and export of ginger.

Location: Gwagwalada, Abuja

Farm activities: Crop and Livestock Production

 

Nigeria has abundance agricultural potentials – 84 million hectares of arable land; two of Africa’s largest rivers; a large and young workforce to support agricultural intensification; and over 170 million consumers to support increased food production and processing.  But potential alone is not enough. We have to unlock it through a major transformation the entire value chain of our agricultural sector. CBS Afro farm in gwagwalada was established to unlock the agricultural potentials in Nigeria. The farm, which is still at its developmental stage,  is already producing livestock for the teeming Nigerian population. Current practices on the farm are livestock production (cattle, chicken, rabbit, grass cutter, rams) and crop production (ugu plant - Telfairia occidentalis). Our future operations will include storage and processing; animal feed production; agricultural research; and expansion of our crop and livestock production lines.
